While we were in Napa last summer we took a balloon ride. One of the things we saw from high above was Artesa Winery in Carneros. The building, which looks like it was built into the side of a hill but wasn’t, was interesting looking and we had heard from a few people that the tour and tasting was worth the trip. We found that the reds were OK but nothing extraordinary. And being that they are located in Carneros they don’t claim to produce big bold Cabs. The Pinot Niors are very good for the price. However, for red wine drinkers like us we found the white wines they produce were very enjoyable. We particularly like the Savignon Blanc. It’s light and crisp, just perfect for the hot summer months.the 2005 Reserve had a bright citrus flavor profile with lemon and tangerine being the most defines. It also had a touch of spice like sage on the finish that added to the complexity. At the club price (which is free to join) $16.50 it’s an excellent value.
