2005 Merus Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

The color is a dark purple that fades very slightly at the rim. After a few hours in the decanter the nose gives off cassis, blueberry jam, mint and damp earth. The flavor profile of this wine is outstanding and very structured. Ultra ripe and extracted currant, black cherry, sage and cedar all work well together. The finish is very long and the tannins are fine grained. This wine is certainly going to become one of the best of the vintage for Napa Cabs. It needs 3-5 years in the cellar to be fully enjoyed so be patient.
