2005 Cave de Tain L’Hermitage Crozes-Hermitage

The nose on this wine didn’t give up much after some time in the decanter . Hints of wet stones and raspberry. On the light side and tart, it will appeal to those who prefer the earthiness of the Rhone varietals. France, Northern Rhône, Crozes-Hermitag.

2005 Chappellet Vineyard Mountain Cuvée (Napa Valley)

The nose has a mix of leather, tobacco and black cherry.  The flavors offer a very concentrated fruit forward mix of black cherry, currant and plumb. The finish is medium length with the tannins lingering. Not quite as complex as the ’04 but still well worth the $22.
